Self Care and Self Love

Self Care and Self Love are words that are being used a lot of late. But this is not something that is new. Not at all. It is something that I feel is definitely being under utilised in todays world.

I do not follow trends, I have always lived my life unconventionally and in a non conformist way and I am proud of that.

But I am writing todays post to assist the many clients and people I have spoken to recently and over the years about this very subject. So today is the time to talk about this.

Self care is also not arguing with people who are committed to misunderstanding you.

I have had to put myself back together on many an occasion in the past.

What I have learnt is that you will never actually feel you can ever discover your broken spirit from the past situations you have found yourself in. 

Your spirit is waiting for you right now and in your future path that you choose to go on. Your spirit was always there it just needed for you to get yourself back together again to  move forward.

So many people have tried to kill the spirit within me so many times. Because of this, I spent many years not nurturing myself and showing myself no love. You do not show yourself, love, when you continuously show yourself no respect with drink, drugs and toxic relationships.

Whilst people do try to take away your spirit it has actually never ever left you. You left it. Its just a matter of tapping and tuning in to find it again and once you do. Never let it go.

I have personally been in the most horrendous abusive relationships. These were physically and mentally abusive. This kills your spirit your sense of self, your sense of self worth

What happens to so many of us when there is say a lack of love from childhood or relationships is that you end up looking for love in all the wrong places.

Sex, drugs and rock and roll as they say. Yep been there and done that for many years. 

Be responsible for you. Watch the way you talk to yourself. Listen to the way others talk to you.

As the wonderful Maya Angelou said

“Nothing Will work unless you do “

Showing emotions is not weakness. Self Nurturing is. You can do anything you put your mind to. Move your stuck energy. Do not close yourself off from a beautiful abundant life full of wonderful information and possibilities. There is boundless infinite possibilities if we just love ourselves and in turn love those around us and the earth we are privileged to stand on.

You become disconnected from the self when you lack self love and care. 

In the end you pay and you will pay dearly for the lack of care. It always manifests itself in some ugly way or another. You just have to realise it and wake up to it. Be in touch with your soul. Uplevel your life.

When you hear something you will forget it.

When you see something you will remember it.

But not until you do something, will you understand it.

Be and stay hungry and I do not mean for food, which for so many people is a coping mechanism that societally is having incredibly grave consequences. 

We are filling ourselves up with nonsense. And this is not just from the toxicity of the food and beverages consumed but the toxicity out there.

1 Comparing yourself to others

2 Bad relationships wether of the sexual or friendship level

3 Overspending on unnecessary purchases. No thought into what you are buying

4 Following people and accounts on Instagram that ultimately do not make you feel good. You go away feeling less than. Stop the mindless scrolling. Look at accounts that feed you with information and joy not despair.

5 Alcohol and Drugs

6 Gossiping

7 Arguing and not listening

Instead of focusing on all this toxic garbage. Please just give to yourself. However that looks to you. Here are 7 wonderful tips.

1 Sleep, rest, nap

2 Turn off the Tv and all devices. Literally unplug

3 Eat nourishing body loving foods

4 Exercise. However that looks for you running, yoga, hiking, boxing whatever gets your heart and endorphins pumping

5 Do anything that inspires you

6 Do anything that you have been meaning to do that you know brings you joy, but you just keep putting off with your incessant excuses

7 Detox absolutely everything from your life that no longer serves you. Trust me you will feel lighter, brighter and ready to adapt to the new you.

Self-love is not just about doing the things that are going to nurture you back into good health and a stable sense of mental and physical wellbeing. Self Love is holding yourself accountable for where you messed up and allowed others into your life to mess it up. Check yourself. Do not berate yourself but just become self-aware and do not let that nonsense happen to you again. Period. I know this because I have learnt the hard way and it has been many years since I allowed anyone to harm me physically, spiritually or mentally on an ongoing basis.

Filling yourself and others up with Love. I mean really what could be better than that.
