Glorious Nettles

With, Spring in the air and finally here in the Northern Hemisphere, there is as usual much to celebrate.

One of these celebratory things,is with me living in the Countryside. I have a huge abundance of Land around me is a sea of Nettles.

They are all just starting to come out now. So in the next few weeks I will start to pick them.

Some people just overlook them as pesky weeds but they are not. They are a powerhouse of wonder and nutrition, so full of goodness.

Of course when you pick them wear gloves, as the name suggests they are called Stinging nettles.

Nettles and their uses

Nettles and their uses are steeped in history around the world. From Alaska, Norway and here in the Uk and many other places, many traditions over the centuries have used them. For their beneficial, medicinal and nutritional qualities.

But, of course make sure you Forage with care. Never pick something that you think is something. You must always be 100% certain.

7 Days of Nettles

So as always we continue with our 7 Days of theme.

What can you do this week to start making changes to your life and health. Well going and picking nettles is one great way to start.

7 Good Reasons

1 It’s free. Just make sure you don’t go foraging around on someones land. Honestly they just sprout around everywhere. Perhaps you did not see them because you were looking at your phone too much. Just saying. Look up take a look around you and disconnect for awhile.Being outside in nature is beautiful. Therapeutic and super relaxing. 

2 Can be used in a variety of ways. Dehydrated to make nettle tea. Smoothies, put in all types of foods, scrambled eggs, mashed sweet potato, soups, a multitude of things.

3 Choc full of wonderful vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. 

4 Can be used to make oils

5 Once dried can keep stored for a really long time

6 Detox for the body and a diuretic

7 Anti inflammatory

Spend time in Nature

There are more benefits and uses but this is just a brief summary.
